I've started migrating to those Asian markets for most of my spice/rice/grain/chillis/etc needs just because the pricing is crazy good and the quality is leaps and bounds above what you'll snag in the McCormick's container that goes for $4. I generally buy all that stuff in bulk so I don't have to go that frequently- but I've found they're my first go-to for anything I spot in a recipe that won't be at your local store. I love my Indian food, and Patel Brothers down by 485 near Pineville is an awesome spot for anything and everything Indian as well as other Asian cuisines. Sure! The Butcher's Market and Reid's are my favorites, followed by Costco and Whole Foods in that order and HT and the ilk are my 'last ditch' options.Īs far as Asian cuisine- I prepare a lot of American-Chinese food (Chinese takeaway-styled stuff, nothing authentic) and I love the Super G Mart off Independence for their rice selection and spice options. Costco, you're right, is my go-to for large amounts of primal cuts and it seems this place will be a good option on that same tier, I guess I was hoping Compare would fill the void between HT/Whole Foods and Costco/Wholesale- where I don't need overpriced 'sub-butcher shop quality' or a huge case of 'cow', but can settle for 'still good' and 'cheap'. I just googled the chef store- how did I not know this place existed? This seems awesome, but I'll definitely need to invest in more freezer space.

Chicken is important so glad they're good there- I'll keep an eye on dates for sure. but I do put together a mojo pork every now and then, so getting ahold of pork butt on a regular basis is important.

Hey- thanks for responding, I appreciate it.Ĭheap beef cuts would be great for sure- I avoid cooking too much central/South American cuisine and I don't really do a lot with thin sliced meats or tongue. I have a butcher shop I like already for the 'big ticket' items- like the Christmas Day prime rib roast or for steak night with the guys (I can't get a decent steak at HT without spending the same as I'd pay for a better cut from the butcher), but I entertain a lot and being able to cut down costs on the staples like chicken thighs/breasts, pork loin/butt/ribs, and beef short ribs/brisket/flank steak would be amazing. Charlotte Checkers (AHL - Florida Panthers)Īs an avid home cook always on the prowl for solid deals on meats and produce does anyone have any insights into the quality found at Compare Foods? I've never been inside one but as their locations seem to be growing in the Charlotte area pretty steadily and having received their mailer a few times I'm curious as to whether anyone knows whether their meat and produce specifically are worth checking out.Īny insight on the rest of the store environment is welcome too- I do a significant amount of international cuisine, so I frequent a few Asian markets for things I require in that vein (spice blends, spices, chillis, etc).Charlotte Knights (AAA - Chicago White Sox).USL League One: /r/CharlotteIndependence.Halloween activities for Charlotte (2022) Charlotte Events Calendar (Updated Daily)Ĭheck out this quick-and-dirty write-up from one of our own!
